William Gilvie Brown

William "Gilvie" Brown, age 79 of New Paris, OH died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the Ocean View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Born on August 20, 1927 in New Paris, OH he was the son of the late William R. & Bonita (Cottington) Brown. Gilvie was a 1945 Jefferson High School graduate and attended Miami University. He served with the U.S. Navy during WW II. He had worked for Dayton Power & Light Company for 40 years and retired in 1995. Member of the New Paris American Legion; Masonic Lodge of New Paris and was a Founder of the New Paris Ball Park; served on the New Paris Village Council for 16 years.

Preceded in death by Twin Brother Willard Brown in 1976, brother Richard Brown in 2007; sister Wilma Gean Brown in 1943.

Survivors include wife: Dorothy "Dottie" M. (Nelson) Brown; sons & daughters in law: Tony & Beth Brown of Cambridge, OH, Max & Colleen Brown of Tipp City, OH and Mitchell Brown of New Paris. Daughter & son-in-law: Holly & Randy Toschlog of Lakeland, FL.; Sisters: Carolyn Schaar of New Madison, OH and Donna Griffen of Leesburg, FL.; Brothers: Phillip Brown of New Paris, Joe Brown of Richmond, IN and Frances Brown of Washington, DC. 5 Grandchildren: Anthony Brown, Marissa Brown, Allison Brown, Nicklaus Toschlog and Hannah Toschlog.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday - February 24, 2007 at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday - February 24, 2007 at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris.
