Update to New Face Covering Order

August 26, 2020

Governor DeWine announced that beginning on Thursday, July 23, at 6:00 p.m., a statewide mask mandate will go into effect for citizens living in all 88 Ohio counties.

All individuals in Ohio must wear facial coverings in public at all times when:

  • In any location that is not a residence;
  • When outdoors and unable to consistently maintain a distance of six feet or more from individuals who are not members of their households; or
  • While waiting for, riding, driving, or operating public transportation, a taxi, a private car service, or a ride-sharing vehicle.

There are several exceptions to the face covering order.  Individuals/employees in the following cases would not be required to wear a face covering:

  • Children under the age of 10 or any other minor who cannot safely wear a face covering;
  • Individuals with specifically documented legal, life, health or safety considerations and limited documented security considerations;
  • Individual is an officiant of a religious service;
  • Employees whose physician advises against the wearing of a face covering;
  • Employees where wearing a face covering is prohibited by federal regulation;
  • Employees that are communicating with a hearing-impaired individual;
  • Employees when working alone in an office or a personal workspace;
  • Individuals who are actively exercising or playing sports;
  • Individuals who are actively involved in public safety; or
  • Individuals who are actively eating or drinking.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. The Family and Staff of Barnes Funeral Homes, Inc.
