William A. Chappel

WILLIAM A. “BILL” CHAPPEL, age 85 of New Paris, Ohio died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Vancrest Nursing Center in Eaton, Ohio. Born on December 6, 1921 in Jefferson Twp., Preble County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Albert L. & Carrie M. (Hewitt) Chappel. He retired in 1986 from Studebaker Buick in Richmond after 33 years of service and had worked at Bud Reid’s Garage in New Paris, Wayne Works in Richmond, Borradaile in Camden and Gilcrest in Richmond. A 1941 Eaton High School graduate, WW II U.S. Army Air Corp veteran. Preceded in death by Sisters: Marjorie J. Chappel and Mary Lucille Wallace; Brothers: Paul Edward Chappel and Robert L. Chappel; Great Grandson: Ethan Chappel.

Survivors include Wife of 58 years: Marie (Booher) Chappel; Son & Daughter-in-law: Roger P. & Deresa Chappel, Richmond, Indiana; Brother: Donald E. Chappel, Springboro, Ohio; Grandchildren: Christopher K. (Kelley) Chappel, Taylor Marie Chappel; Great Grandsons: Mason Rader and Peyton Chappel, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2007 - 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church - 301 E. Main Street - New Paris, Ohio with Rev. LaDonna Clary officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris with full military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 18, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
