Todd Markey Miller, 64, gently went to be with his Lord on April 9, 2026 in Florida, with family by his side. He was the firstborn son of Marlin and Carol Miller formerly of West Alexandria.
Todd resided in Preble County, Ohio his entire life. The rest of the family had scattered all over the country. However, Todd’s occupation as Load Master on flight crews for international air freight companies, filled this young man’s life with amazing experiences and adventures. Air Cargo loading and unloading required meticulous calculations; pickups and destinations were world-wide unlimited. Sometimes layovers included cities which provided opportunities for Todd to visit relatives and friends, share holidays or explore special places of interest.
Todd always collected extensive knowledge and demonstrated a passion for natural health alternatives. He pursued “ground-breaking” college Bio-Medical Engineering classes in the 80’s. Todd discovered herbal remedies around the world that were time-honored from many other cultures. He realized our food sources were lacking nutrition, micro-plastic contaminated, pesticide burdened, sugar loaded, and overprocessed. He accepted that modern technology produced unknown radiation risks. He taught everyone he encountered how to be seek a healthier way of life.
This is a beautiful story of loving care. Todd stepped up as caregiver for his grandmother, Esther Markey Miller Cultice until her passing. Later he went to California to help his dad, Marlin Jay Miller, at the end of his life. However, Todd’s longest running caregiver commitment involved a Preble County family friend (and sometimes travel buddy) Marilyn Idle, who amazingly lived within three days of reaching age 100. In February of ’24, Todd’s brothers, Jay Miller and Chad Miller travelled to Ohio for Marilyn’s Memorial Service and realized Todd was not well.
Todd’s diagnosis and following prognosis were devastating. Todd Miller had a huge Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. The advice given; that after surgical removal, deadly tumors would definitely return. Hope for a little longer life would only be by chemo and radiation. There would be side effects.
Brothers Todd and Jay were always very close; they had experienced childhood together and stayed in contact almost daily thru adulthood. Jay didn’t leave Ohio for the next five months; Jay remained with his brother thru massive brain surgery and two months of in-patient hospital rehab therapy. Then after two months at Todd’s house gaining strength, Jay and Chad brought Todd home to Florida where mom, Carol, awaited.
At first, Todd needed intense caregiving just for survival. Todd had been extremely disappointed that most of our country’s medical community focused on reducing symptoms, not seeking cures. A few doctors were fighting Glioblastoma with interesting alternate treatment protocols. By God’s Grace, Todd’s previous naturopathic knowledge and inquisitive mind returned. He clearly expressed his opinions on how he wanted to fight his brain cancer and support a healthier body. Jay followed his brother’s directions. Absolutely no chemo or radiation! Todd desired a strict diet; no sugar, specific organic veggies, no seed oils, quality proteins, lots of water, natural sea salt… Also, no prescriptions, just natural supplements, challenging physical therapy, promising treatments and Florida sunshine. Talkative Todd lost an admirable amount of weight, looked great, his tanned skin cleared up and some muscles came back to life as he fought daily with unwavering courage and passion.
Meanwhile, Todd charmed us all with his exceptional legacy of love, humor, strength and determination for fourteen cherished months. Todd definitely beat the deadly two-month prognosis given after surgery. We thank God for all that precious extra time. Our brilliant, gentle, kind, and dearly loved Todd will be greatly missed by Mom Carol; Brothers Jay (Dawn) and Chad (Angela); Nephews Blake and Brady; Aunt Karen; Uncle Roger (Phyllis); Cousins Lisa, Diana, Trish, Kristen, Kris and Gretchen; Spouses; The Younger Generation; Friends and Co-workers.
Funeral Service will be held at 12 PM, Friday, April 24, 2026, at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio. Todd Markey Miller will be laid to rest next to his grandparents, George and Esther MiIler and Uncle Dean Miller, at Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton, Ohio. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 12 PM prior to the Service.
