Sharon L. “Sherry” Gearhart, 79, and her Husband of 57 years, Richard J. Gearhart, 86, of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Monday, September 29, 2025 in Eaton, Ohio and Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in Dayton, Ohio, died about eleven hours apart from each other.
Sherry was a Monroe Township High School graduate and had served for over 30 years as an EMT with the Lewisburg Emergency Unit. She had worked for the Village Florist and served on many community committees within the village. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Richard E. North in 1982 and Dorothy C. “Dottie” Hensel in 2020.
Richard was a 1957 graduate of Arcanum High School and had attended the Howe Military Institute in Howe, Indiana. He retired from General Motors Inland in Dayton. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for Preble County and later served as Police Chief from 1973 – 1977 for the Village of Lewisburg. He was a Charter Member (1975) of the Lewisburg Emergency Unit, retiring in 2000. He had also served as Zoning Inspector for the village and had also worked for Defense Electronic, Inc. Along with Sherry, he had also served on many community committees.
Sherry and Richard are survived by their Children: Cathy L. (Greg) Bowman and Craig A. Gearhart; Grandchildren: Alexzander Craig Gearhart and Drake Addison (Hanna) Riley; Great Grandchildren: Claire E. Gearhart and Blake M. Riley; along with her Siblings: Randolph (Ruth) North, Michael North and Pam Young. Nieces and Nephews.
A Public Graveside will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025 in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg.
