Russell “Mousy” Hartman, Jr., age 85 of Eaton, Ohio and formerly of Lewisburg, Ohio, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 29, 1939 in Preble County, Ohio, son of the late John Russell & Ica Iola (Brown) Hartman. Russell is a 1957 graduate of Lewisburg Union High School. He had worked for 35 years, retired in 1998 from GM – Inland in Vandalia, Ohio. Driver for 17 years for Preble County Council on Aging.
Russell served in the US Air Force from 1958 to 1962 and the Air Force Reserves from 1962 to 1964.
Preceded by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Ellen (Bloom) Hartman in 2019; brother Melvin J. Hartman; sister, Katherine “Kathy” Houdeshell; stepfather, Roy Anderson; lifelong friend, Robert “Bob” Payne.
Survived by his two children, Candy (Steve) Williams and Brett (Sheila) Hartman; five grandchildren, Kyle (Holly) Williams, Branden (MacKensey) Williams, Alex (Kerstin) Williams, Jessica Hartman and Erin (Eddie) Olinger; three great granddaughters, Olivia, Remington, and Jordyn; one great grandson, Colton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. To honor Russell’s wishes, a remembrance gathering will be announced later at Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, Ohio.
