Royal Edmund Harris, 56, of Eaton, Ohio also lovingly known as Ned, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. after a brief illness. Born May 22, 1954 in Dayton, OH, he was the third child and only son of the late Royal Willed & Mary Leona (Stack) Harris. A lifelong resident of Eaton, OH, he grew up on three farms in the Eaton vicinity, before relocating to Eaton after the passing of his father and was a devoted companion to his mother. He graduated from Eaton High School in 1973 and retained a lifelong loyalty to the Eaton Eagles and his school. Ned worked alongside his father as a farmer for much of his adult life; he was a daily fixture in his neighborhood, a devoted walker, sports devotee, and a caring neighbor and friend. He attended the Church of the Visitation in Eaton and was a member of the F.O.E. in Eaton.
Survived by his two sisters: Bonnie L. Harris Yates and her fiancé James Hunt of Eaton, OH and Connie L. Harris of Allentown, PA.; niece: Mary Ellen Farrell and husband William Scott Farrell and his beloved great nephew, William Harris Farrell of Ludlow, KY; nephew: Nelson C. Yates II and fiancée Kelly Whalen of Chicago, IL; cousins and countless friends. Ned was also a devoted "father" to his two dogs, Shi-Shi and Lucy Marie Harris. Ned loved his family and will be dearly and deeply missed.
Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Visitation Catholic Church – 401 East Main Street – Eaton, OH with Rev. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton, OH. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home – 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio. Rosary service will be 1:30 PM at the funeral home.
