Richard D. Pentecost

Richard Dale “Dick” Pentecost 81 of New Paris, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at his residence. Born on December 4, 1941, he was the son of the late Myron & Irene (Flatter) Pentecost. He was a lifelong resident of Preble County and was a 1959 Jackson High School graduate. He worked for many years as a draftsman and mechanical designer at Buckeye Iron & Brass in Dayton, OH and Natco in Richmond, IN. He retired from Rapid Design Services in Dayton, OH. Richard also served as scoutmaster for the Boy Scout Troop 13 of New Paris, OH and served as a Special Deputy for the Preble County Sheriff’s Department and an Officer for the New Paris Police Department.

Preceded in death by his first wife Sylvia L. (Richards) Cole in 1981 and wife and companion of 36 years Linda M. (Arthur) Pentecost in 2013; sisters: Mary Louise Pentecost in 1931, Winifred Uhrig in 2006, and Alice Straszheim in 2019.

Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Michael R. & Michelle Pentecost of Kettering, Ohio; Dennis E. & Carol Pentecost of Williamsburg, Indiana;  Brian M. & Annette Pentecost of Brighton, Illinois; and Jerry L. & Margaret Pentecost of Richmond, Indiana; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, Several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Andy.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family and are entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home, New Paris, Ohio.
