Peggy Bishop

Peggy Bishop, 92 of New Paris, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Greenbriar Care Community in Eaton, Ohio. She was born on August 1, 1933, in New Paris, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert Eugene and Esther E. (Smith) Melody.

Peggy was a 1951 graduate of Jefferson Twp. High School and retired from Scioto Downs Race Track in Columbus, Ohio where she was a judge for 20 years. She was a member of the United States Trotting Association.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jeanine Lee Melody in 1940; brothers, Thomas and Timothy Melody.

She is survived by her children, Benjamin L. Bishop, Daniel T. (Karen) Bishop and Bali L. (Michael) Speers-MacFarland; brothers, Theodore and Robert Melody; sisters, Joan Steinberger, Rose Morgan and Jill Stokkle; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

At Peggy’s request there will be no services held. Arrangements are entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home- New Paris.
