Jan R. Strayer

Jan R. “Pop Pop” Strayer, 86 of Verona, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026 at his residence. Born on March 20, 1940 in Germantown, Ohio, he was the son of the late William B. and June A. (Howard) Strayer.

Jan was a 1958 Pompano Beach High School graduate. He had worked in two different career fields. He was a preeminent automotive painter in the Dayton area for many years, (Strayer’s Body Shop, White Allen, Penny Motors, John May Chevrolet, Mike’s Body Shop) then worked as a truck driver for Yellow Freight until his retirement. Member of the Union City Browns backers, co-founder of the Twin Valley North Pee Wee Football program, little league baseball coach and umpire, avid motor sports fan especially NASCAR, avid Browns fan, fishing in Lake Cumberland and many other sports.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his Wife: Linda K. (Maloon) Strayer

Survived by his Children: Jim Strayer, Amy Strayer, Rich (Jody) Strayer and Mandy and Tony Scott; Brothers: Gary (Cindy) Strayer and Steve Strayer; Sister-in-law: Rebecca J. Bennett; Grandchildren: Jaimee (Ian) and her mother Jill Graves, Justin (Erin), Brittany, Katie (Dylan), Jenna, Jacob (Marrissa) and Braiden; Great-Grandchildren: Cora, Adalynne, Carl, Dallas, Liam, Brantley, Henry, Azalynne, Jack, A’Raydyn, Brailyn, and Novalynn. Numerous Nieces and Nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 North Commerce Street, Lewisburg, Ohio with Pastor Tim Martin officiating. Family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. prior to service. A private graveside service will be held in Verona Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
