Jack L. Hudgens, 58, of Eldorado, OH died Thursday September 7, 2006 at his residence following a 6 year illness. He was born July 30, 1948 in Richmond, IN, son of George & Nannie (Sproles) Hudgens. Jack worked for Dayton Flexible both prior to and following service to his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He married Susan King on February 1, 1970 in Bloomington, IN, and was employed as a psychiatric attendant for 26 years at Richmond State Hospital, retiring in 2003 due to illness. Jack attended the Lighthouse Church of God in College Corner, OH. He was an avid reader, especially Science Fiction, having a collection of over 2000 books. He was a storyteller, chess player, dart player, fisherman, and avid Harley rider. He loved music, and traveling with his wife – together they enjoyed many vacations. He was a loving husband, brother, and uncle, whose patience and love for his wife was shown by the crewel embroidery picture he made for her, stitch by stitch, over a period of 7 years. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Patricia Wathen; brothers: Phillip Hudgens & William Schmidt.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; brothers: Hal W. Hudgens & Sam T. Hudgens, both of New Hope, OH; sister: Jane Susung, Morristown, TN; uncle: Junior Carpenter, Morristown. TN; several nieces & nephews; great-nieces & nephews; and his loving cat, Niki.
Funeral Service for Jack L. Hudgens will be Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, Ohio with Pastor Bryon Gevedon officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Monroe Cemetery, near Eldorado. Friends may call Monday, September 11, 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
