Ina Smith

Ina Smith, 93, of Lexington, passed away March 20, 2008 at Heartland Nursing Home in Eaton, OH, where she was a resident for the last 5 years. She was born March 1, 1915 in Speedwell, TN to James Lafayette and Margaret Elizabeth Smith. Ina was a dedicated Registered Nurse who worked her entire career at Good Samaritan Hospital and Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was also a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Lexington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by stepchildren, Patsy & Joseph Whisman; brothers, Clayton Smith, Clarence Smith, Jack Smith, & Bobby Smith; sister-in-law, Norma Smith; and brothers-in-law, Elbert Fugate, Paris Wooten, & Bill Nickell.

She is survived by stepchildren, Josephine Fugate of Frankfort and Carolyn Bowles of Richmond & their families; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys Wooten, Combs, KY, Edna & Warren Lane, Ezel, KY, Wanda & James Campbell, Cave City, KY, Clara & Melvin Bush, Germantown, OH, and Charlotte & Kermit Burrows, Lewisburg, OH; sisters-in-law, Ada Smith, Ezel, KY and Clara Smith, Eldorado, AR; and several generations of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 12:30pm Mon at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. with the Rev. David R. Thomas officiating with interment to follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:30pm until time of service Mon.
