It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Helen Mae Winkler, age 91, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Everheart Hospice in Greenville, Ohio. Born on November 15, 1933, in Celina, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. & Goldie R. (Schaffer) Hall. Helen touched the lives of all who knew her with kindness, generosity, and a gentle spirit.
Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, cherished friend, and respected member of the community. She dedicated her life to helping people, serving the Lord, and raising three children of whom she was very proud. Her love of all animals, especially horses, dogs and cats, was a special part of her life.
Helen was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School in Dayton, Ohio, Class of 1951. During her life she worked as a sales representative, telephone operator, waitress, cashier, caregiver and home health aide.
Member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton. Past member of the American Legion Auxiliary of West Alexandria, Ohio, Women of the Moose Auxiliary, Preble County Senior Center, and Eagles Lodge #2202 of Eaton.
Preceded in death by her husband Paul E. Winkler in 1981 and a half sister: Marjorie P. Kniepkamp in 2006.
Survivors include her children: Jerry & Teresa Winkler of Eaton, Ohio; Larry Winkler of Leesburg, Florida; Paula & Arthur Wagner of Anacortes, Washington and Phyllis Jean & the late Richard Campbell of West Alexandria, Ohio; 3 Grandchildren: Brenna, Michele and Steven; 4 Great Grandchildren: Victor, Autumn, Cody and Austin; 1 Great Great Grandson: Colson; and several Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 3, 2025, and one hour prior to the service at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 4, 2025, with Pastor Dwight Hanson at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Sugar Grove Cemetery in West Alexandria, Ohio.
