Emerson E. Goad

EMERSON E. GOAD, age 82, of Camden, Ohio, died Monday, December 25, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Born on November 28, 1924 in West Alexandria, Ohio, he was the son of the late James C. & Lona (Myers) Goad. He was a 1942 West Alexandria High School graduate. Emerson proudly served in the 47th Armored Infantry Battalion in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded during action in France of August, 1943. Member of the American Legion in West Alexandria, Ohio and the V.F.W. in Camden, Ohio. He retired from Dayton Chemical Plant in West Alexandria after 30 years. Emerson was an avid guitar player and played at the local V.F.W. He is preceded in death by his wife: Margaret L. Lewis in 1982; brother: Ivan Goad in 2006; sisters: Edna Spitler and Alice Dillion.

He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law: Larry E. & Betty Goad of Bordentown, New Jersey, John E. & Phyllis Goad of Cookville, Tennessee, and Wesley & Lynn Goad of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughters & sons-in-law: Alice & William Bowen of Greenville, Ohio and Carol Sue & Paul David Larrison of Sevierville, Tennessee; sister: Pauline Jones of Lewisburg, Ohio; friend: Peggy Runyan of Camden, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2006 at the Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Vern Rosenbalm officiating. Interment will be held in Sugar Grove Cemetery in West Alexandria, Ohio with Full Military Honors provided by the West Alexandria American Legion Post Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 29, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
