Earl C. O’Banion, Jr. age 80, of Eaton, OH, died Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton. Born on April 29, 1937 in Preble County, Ohio he was the son of the late Earl C. & Florence (Michael) O’Banion. He was a 1955 Gratis High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army Airborne from 1956 to 1958. Member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworker for 58 years, Ohio Bricklayers Local #18 of Cincinnati, OH, an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter. He was an active member of the Preble Shawnee Athletic Club, Camden Little League Coach, a Cincinnati Reds longtime fan, Eaton Walmart Store Greeter for 10 years, attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden and loved spending time with family.
Preceded in death by his sisters: Rose Florence Werk in 1998; Margaret Mann in 2010; Juanita Shaw in 2002 and Wanda Jean Shewman in 2014.
Earl is survived by his wife of 61 years: Roberta L. (Back) O’Banion; children: Derek & Paula O’Banion and Darren L. & Holli J. O’Banion both of Eaton, OH; Darah & Randall Huffer of Columbus, OH; 9 grandchildren: Lana Bellar, Landen O’Banion, Lyle O’Banion, Letta South, Courtney O’Banion, Morgan O’Banion, Hayden Huffer, Danier Huffer and Kendal Huffer; 5 great grandchildren: Paisley, Zalek, Adeline, Eleanor and Oliver.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, January 22, 2018 at the First Southern Baptist Church – 35 North Liberty Street Camden, OH. A celebration of Earl’s life will be held 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the church with Dr. Greg F. Jackson officiating. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Camden, OH.
