Douglas Edward Triplett

Mr. Douglas Edward Triplett, 54, of Huntington, West Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 27, 2026, while under the compassionate care of Ohio Hospice. A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Doug was born on December 2, 1971, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Donald Triplett and Janet Triplett.

He attended Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church for much of his life before later becoming a member of Highlawn Baptist Church, where he answered God's call into the ministry and faithfully served as a pastor.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald Toppings Triplett, Sr. and Nada Mae Adams Triplett; his maternal grandparents, Norway Childers and Rebecca Laura Adkins Childers; his beloved childhood pastor, Rev. David Clark, whose faithful example inspired Doug to answer the Lord's call into ministry; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loved ones.

Doug is survived by his loving father, Donald Triplett; his mother, Janet Triplett; his sister, Lara Prater; his brother-in-law, Clay Prater; his beloved nephews, Andrew, Xander, and Caleb Prater; his aunt Mary Ann Triplett Bezio; and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Doug's life was marked by faith, service, and a deep love for his family, church, community, and country. An accomplished musician, he was an outstanding trumpet player who shared his musical talents throughout his life.

As a youth, Doug earned the prestigious Eagle Scout Award as the 50th Eagle Scout from Troop 63 in Melissa, West Virginia. His Eagle Scout Court of Honor was a memorable occasion attended by U.S. Senator John D. "Jay" Rockefeller IV, making the achievement even more special. Achieving this milestone alongside his lifelong friend, Scott Furry, remained one of his proudest accomplishments. He maintained a lifelong appreciation for Scouting and held tremendous respect for his Scoutmaster, Mr. J, whose guidance helped shape his character. Doug remained a devoted supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and took great pride in encouraging and supporting his nephews as they earned their own Eagle Scout Awards.

Doug attended Hite Saunders Elementary, Barboursville Middle School, and Barboursville High School. A proud Pirate for life, he graduated in 1990.

A proud son of Marshall University, Doug earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and History. During his college years, he became a devoted member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, an organization he faithfully supported throughout his life. He was also a proud member of Marshall University's Marching Thunder, where he played the trumpet, combining his love of music with his Marshall pride.

Doug dedicated more than ten years to Cabell County Schools as an educator, where he inspired countless students with his love of history and learning. He also faithfully served for more than a decade as a Minister of Education, combining his passion for teaching with his unwavering Christian faith.

Doug was a devoted patriot who loved American history, Southern Gospel music, and the rich heritage of Appalachia. His passion for West Virginia history earned him the honor of competing for the distinguished Golden Horseshoe Award while in the eighth grade, an honor he won and one that he treasured throughout his life.

Doug will be remembered for his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, his servant's heart, his love of learning, his devotion to Scouting, and the encouragement he offered to everyone blessed to know him. His legacy of faith, education, and service will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched.
