Dorothy J. Hester

DOROTHY J. HESTER, age 82, of Eaton, Ohio, died Saturday, December 16, 2006 at her residence. Born March 16, 1924 in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lee S. and Agnes (Harmeling) Hillman. She retired in 1986 from Preble Landmark in Eaton following more than 20 years of service as an office manager and had farmed with her husband, Gordon Thomas Hester whom she married on February 27, 1946. Member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in New Paris, the St. Ann’s Sodality and the Preble County Farm Bureau. She loved gardening, cross stitching and playing cards with groups of friends including the Club 18. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and brother: Richard Hillman.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Thomas C.“Chuck” and Pam Hester of Eaton; daughter and son-in-law: Betty and Jim King of Anderson, Indiana; Sisters: Barbara Groh of Lebanon, Ohio and Martha McCardle in Bradenton, Florida;Grandchildren: Thomas C. Hester, Jr., Emily Jane (Steve) Philips, Robert Lee Hester, Mark (Nicole) King, and Troy (April) King; Great Grandchildren: Chelsea and Carter King and Tanner and Tatum King. Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the St. John’s Catholic Church- North Spring St.- New Paris, Ohio with Rev. J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment will be held in St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Richmond, Indiana. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home- 109 West Main Street- New Paris, Ohio. Prayers will be given at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
