Donald L. Whipp, 85 of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Monday, September 30, 2024 at his residence. Born on March 25, 1939 in Lewisburg, Ohio, he was the son of the late Karl I. and Mildred E. (Hoffman) Whipp.
Don was a 1957 graduate of Lewisburg High School. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served in the Air Force, having served overseas on five different occasions during his hitch. At various times he drew assignments in Spain, Germany, Okinawa and twice in Italy. Taking advantage of being abroad, he traveled at every opportunity and spent some time in 22 different countries during his five years in service. He retired in 1995 after 35 years with Chrysler Corp in Dayton. Don has been associated with the local fire department and emergency unit for many years and served as Chief of the fire department from 1986 to 1988. He officially retired from Lewisburg Emergency Unit on January 1, 2000. He had also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Preble County Fireman’s Association and later served as President. He was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his Siblings: Doyle D. (Viviene) Whipp, and Joan K. (Jim) Yount.
Survived by his Wife of 59 years: Joanne M. (Zumbrun) Whipp; Son: David L. (Beth) Whipp; Daughter: Julie L. (Brad) Harvey; Siblings: James D. (Bonnie) Whipp, Janet S. (Terry) Richards, and Dale (Charlene) Whipp. Grandchildren: Cameron D. Whipp, Collin D. Whipp, Casey L. Whipp, Megan N. (Joe) Bandy, and Tyler W. Harvey; Great Grandson: Arthur Bandy. Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church, 3147 US Rt 40 East, Lewisburg, with Pastor Mike Pratt officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the church.
