Donald D. “DK” Kring, 76 of Lewisburg, peacefully passed away at his home on February 17th 2026 surrounded by family. Born on May 6, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lester E. Kring and Dorothy M. (Hypes) Weaver.
Don graduated from Brookville High School in 1967. After high school he worked at Tieteman Tool and Die until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He served as a SP4 from 1969-1971. He was wounded in Vietnam and received the Vietnam Service Metal with one Bronze Service Star, Purple Heart, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class Unit Citation Badge. He was honorably discharged.
Don continued his education at Central State University from 1974-1982 earning his Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. During his time on campus, he was a member of Players Inc. and honorary member of The Lodge. Don and his friends would go to every sporting event to cheer on their beloved Marauders. After graduation he became a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Alumni Dayton Chapter.
Starting his career as a teacher at Tri- County North in 1986 teaching Health and PE. He was a proud Panther and showed his support by helping with the boosters, coaching multiple sports, being a class advisor, assistant athletic director for 12 years, and being the voice of the marching panther band for over 20 years. Don received his master’s degree in teaching from Marygrove College in 2001. He retired from teaching in 2015.
He was very active in his community and was also a member of American Legion (2003-04 District Commander of American Legion district 3), VFW, DAV, Lions Club (2009-10 District Governor of Ohio Lions District 13H), Preble County Honor Guard, and participated in Ohio Buckeye Boys State and was part of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Don loved spending time with his family and friends. You always knew when DK was there as he could not hide his pride for his Panthers of TCN or Marauders of Central State especially when it came to sports. He knew no stranger. He was a selfless man with a big heart and will be missed deeply by all who’s lives he has touched.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his Step-Father: Glenn E. Weaver: Brother and Sister-in-law: Steve and Jan Kring, Sister: Deborah Kring, and Brother-in-law: Donald Goff.
He is survived by his Sister: Loretta Kay Goff; Nephew: Tim (Abby) Kring; Great Nieces: Allie (Jordan) Holbrook and Erin Kring.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Trinity Church of Lewisburg, 511 North Commerce Street. Lewisburg, Ohio with Pastor Gary Sollenberger officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg with military honors. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the church.
