Dale Phenis Major

DALE PHENIS MAJOR, age 93, of Camden, OH, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at his residence with his family at his side. Born on October 18, 1916 near Aroma, IN, he was the son of the late Granville & Alma Pheanis Major.

Preceded in death by his first wife: Lorene (Barnet) Major in 1988, second wife: Velma Mae (Baker) Cooper - Major in 2009. Brother: Charles Major. Sister: Beulah Dillman. Daughter-in-law: Connie Major and a grandson, Shawn Major.

A 1934 Camden High School graduate, Dale retired from Armco (AK Steel) in 1979 after 32 years of service. He earned an Electrial Engineering Degree while employed at Armco and retired as a Foreman. Dale served on the Camden Village Council and also as Mayor of Camden. He was active for over ten years in the Council on Aging.

Dale is survived by his children: Dale P. Major, Dixie Graham and Penny Major all of Washington Court House, OH, Randy (Sue) Major of Hopkinsville, KY, and Jolene (Willie) Allen of Camden, OH.. Fourteen grandchildren: Brad (Susan) Graham, Lu Ann Worthington, Mindy (Terry) Eckle, Kelly (Theresa) Graham, Wendell (Carole) Graham, Lera Harrison, Scott (Heather) Major, Amy (Greg) Mason, Kyle (Anita) Major, Tad Major, Steve Lowman, Shari Lowman, Lee (Linda) Major and Susan Major. Thirty six great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren and two great great great grandchildren.
