Betty Jane Shyers

Betty Jane Shyers, age 100, of Eaton, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at her residence. Born on January 25, 1926 in Jacksonburg, Indiana, daughter of the late Carl J. & Ida Mae (Gibson) Kellam.

She was a 1943 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

Preceded by her husband of 42 years, Paul E. Shyers in 2008; sisters, Garnet K. Vance, Agnes Lucille Kinsinger, Thelma Lorene Lantz, Barbara Kellam, and Bernice Crawford; niece, Judith E. Craig; great niece, Teresa Dunavent; nephew, Larry Burris.

Survived by her son, Bruce Hignite of Austin, Texas; stepson & daughter-in-law, Paul E. & Christine Shyers II of Waynesville, Ohio; stepdaughter & son-in-law, Barbara & Robert LaChance of Seminole, Florida; nieces, Kay Burris of Centerville, Indiana and her children, Cheri (Nicholas) Burris Brightman and Chris (Jenelle) Burris; nephew, Gene (Marcia) Kinsinger of Richmond, Indiana; great nephews, Scott Dunavent and Brad (Shannon) Dunavent; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family’s convenience.
