Berneda Marshall Trent age 96, of Eaton, Ohio died Wednesday September 19, 2018 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH. Born on December 31, 1921 in Darke County Ohio the daughter of the late Homer & Naomi (Worch) McClain.
Berneda was a 1940 graduate of Arcanum High School. She was a former member of the West Manchester Congregational Christian Church, where she was a Youth Leader for 10 years. In the 1940’s she married her husband Robert L. Marshall and they were active in Purebred Swine Production for several years with extensive improvements guided by The Ohio State University. Berneda was a Newspaper Counselor for several years, past Director of the American Cancer Society and current member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Eaton, OH. She entered the real estate business in 1977 and was the Manager for Bruce R. Hawley Realtors in Eaton for several years.
Preceded in death by her first husband Robert in 1975 and second husband J.B. Trent in 2004, brother: Herbert McCain in 2008 and nephew Michael McClain.
Survived by her daughters & sons-in-law: Jean & Len Baldwin of East Liberty, OH; Linda Marshall & Jesse Scott of Chicago IL; Terri L. Marshall & Stephen Hiland of Columbus, OH; step-daughters: Billie Jo Walker and Vickie Lynn Moore; step sons: Tony Lee Trent and James “Sonny” Trent; one granddaughter Renee (Alan) Grantham of Columbus, OH; Sister-In-Law: Juanita McClain; Nephew: David McClain and family; 16 step grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; “Adopted” son: ‘Bud,’ Fur Baby:Talo; special friend: Donald Clifford “Cliff” Bailey and many, many special friends.
Everyone who knew Berneda understood that her passion was people. She loved real estate and helping others find a home. She was a realtor until the age of 91. Her love extended to animals and teenagers who needed a friend. She started two groups for singles after the death of her husbands. One group Sidus still exists in Preble County. Berneda also loved growing flowers and creating beauty wherever she was.
Family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street Eaton, Ohio.
The Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery – Fort Jefferson, Darke County, Ohio. Condolences may be sent via www.barnesfuneralhome.com
