Wanda J. Barnes Koons

WANDA J. BARNES KOONS, age 74, of Eaton, Ohio died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at her residence. Born on April 21, 1933 in Richmond, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. & Cordelia S. Mummert Barnes. She was a Certified CN Nursing Assistant at Vancrest Health Care Center of Eaton and had been a Clerk for the Board of Public Affairs in Camden. She was a 1951 Eaton High School graduate, an honorary member of Omicron Sigma Sorority for fifty plus years, Precinct worker in Preble County for 20 years, Gleaner’s #182 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post #215 Auxiliary in Eaton, V.F.W. Auxiliary where she served as Treasurer, Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. #1108 in Richmond, IN, National Federation of Republican Women, Charter Member of the Eaton YMCA, Trustee of the Council of Aging, member of the Eaton Baptist Temple where she was baptized June 23, 2002 and was a volunteer for the Women’s Missionary at the church, Public Employee Retirees and was a Teachers Aid at Bruce & East Schools in Eaton. Preceded in death by granddaughter: Natasha Lea Baker in 1991.

Survived by sons & daughter-in-law: Timothy L. Lane of Eaton, Ohio, Stephen A. & Rachelle Lane of Elida, Ohio; daughter & son-in-law: Denise Ann & Steve Baker of Eaton, Ohio; sister & brother-in-law: Joyce E. & Richard T. Farmer of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren: Tara Patin, Leah Jones, Heather Baker, Bryan Jones, Delena Baker, Michelle Lovejoy, Anna Badger, Steve Lane, II, step grandchildren: Michael & Kayla Erb; great grandchildren: Mikayla Patin, Destiny Nickell, Isaac & Dominic Badger and Jake Lane.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Eaton Baptist Temple - 416 East Decatur St. - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Lowell T. Spencer and Scott Moler officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 25, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio and one hour prior to service at the church. Eastern Star Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. and Omicron Sigma Sorority service at 7:45 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
