Verla L. Thornsberry

Verla L. Thornsberry, age 88 of Lewisburg, Ohio died Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Richmond, Indiana. Born on March 6, 1934 in Hellier, Pike County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ory L. & Lonnie (Cook) Bowling. Verla was an Elementary School Teacher for Tri-County North Schools, retiring in 1989. She had taught for 2 years at Verona in the Kindergarten and Elementary and 28 years teaching 4th grade for Twin Valley North and later Tri-County North School system. Prior to moving to Ohio from Kentucky, she had taught 2 years in Floyd
County, Kentucky. A 1952 High School graduate in Garrett, Floyd County, Kentucky, 1964 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

Preceded in death by her Husband: Roosevelt Thornsberry in 2011; Siblings: Chester Bowling, Harold Bowling, Archie Bowling, Peggy Oakley, Robert Bowling and Pina Click.

Survived by her Sons and Daughters-in-law: Timothy L. (Krista) Thornsberry and Robert E. (Kay Lee) Thornsberry; Sister: Patricia Tackett; 4 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.


Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 North Commerce Street, Lewisburg, Ohio with Rick Alvey officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Family will receive friends on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
