Ruth J. Clark

RUTH J. (HECATHORN) CLARK, 88, of Eaton, Ohio, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Van Crest Nursing Home in Eaton. She was born on October 19, 1920 in Eaton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Otha E. Hecathorn and Nina (Garber) Hecathorn. A 1938 graduate of Eaton High School, Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Hubert Clark. They spent 65 years together, farming and rearing their children at the family farm on Swain Road west of Eaton. Later she owned and operated the Drapery Workshop, in which Ruth combined her love of sewing and flair for interior decorating. When Hubert served on the Preble County Fair Board, the two of them worked together to build and promote the harness racing program. Ruth was a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Hubert (Buzz) Clark in May 2008, and sisters, Helyn Mikesell in 1996, and Eleanor Fieselman in 1998.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen H. & Patricia Clark of West Chester, Ohio and Rodger B. & Karen Clark of Eaton, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law Sarah E. & James Clark Holloway of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren Amy L. (Cory) Clapsaddle, Elizabeth A. (Michael) Harding, Brian S. Clark, Daryl Clark Holloway, Samuel Clark Holloway, Eleanor Clark Holloway, Ryan W. (Emily) Clark, Meghan N. Clark, and Nathan B. Clark; five great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 - 12:00 p.m. at the Eaton United Church of Christ, 113 West Decatur St., Eaton, OH with Rev. Larry Ganger officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton. Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, Ohio.
