ROGER N. "Lumpy" OWEN, 69, of Eaton, OH, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Wood Glen Alzheimer's Community in Dayton. Born on January 8, 1942 in Dayton, OH, he was the son of the late Russell M. & Mary (Guckian) Owen. Roger was a retired Police Officer for the City of Eaton serving from 1968 – 1994, badge number 1207. He was a 1960 Shawnee High School graduate in Camden, attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Criminal Justice, Charter Member of the Eaton Emergency Squad in 1972, served in the U.S. Army and Ohio National Guard, Eaton Grange #2250, Bolivar Lodge #82 F & AM and IOOF Rachel Rebekah Lodge #144 in Eaton, Friendship Odd Fellows #21 in Germantown, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, a 4-H member in Camden and played in the Camden Alumni Band and the Eaton Community Band. He was an Amateur Radio Operator N8XP for over 50 years and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton and the F.O.P.

Preceded in death by his Brother: Ronald Owen in 1975, Step Son: Todd Slorp in 1991 and Uncle W. Amel Owen in 1999.

Survived by Wife of 20 years: Dixie J. (Buehner) Owen; Daughters: Robyn Owen, Dayton, OH, Shannon (Jon) Romeo, Miamisburg, OH and Andrea (Robert) Culver, Huber Heights, OH; Step Children: Thomas (Donna) Slorp, Dayton, OH, Teresa (Rick) Weaver, Industry, PA, Traci (Wade) Ferry, Dayton, OH and Tina Borton, Kettering, OH. 8 Grandchildren, 10 Step Grandchildren and 8 Step Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main St., Eaton, OH with Pastor Robert Shannon officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton with military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 30 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home with Masonic Service at 7:30 P.M. and Odd Fellow Service at 7:45 P.M.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Wood Glen Alzheimer's Community, Attn: Tabitha Arnold, 3800 Summit Glen Drive, Dayton, OH 45449. A family meal will be held after the committal service at the First Brethren Church, corner of 725 and 122 in Gratis, OH.
