Phyllis J. Bowers

Phyllis J. Bowers, 77, of Eldorado, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, February 8, 2009, at her residence after nearly 14 years of illnesses. She was born September 19, 1931 in Arcanum, Ohio, to Roy & Sara (Harshbarger) Hofacker, who preceded her in death. Phyllis was a New Madison (Tri-Village) graduate of the Class of '51, and lived in Darke & Preble counties all her life. In 1952 she married Dale Bowers, and became a loving wife and mother, a good neighbor, and a great friend to all she met. She enjoyed working at Fram, in Greenville, and the Arcanum Corner Restaurant, where she made many friends. She spent many long hours caring for her father-in-law. Her favorite hobby was going to garage sales, yard sales, barn sales – anywhere she could find bargain. She and Dale enjoyed 56 years of marriage together. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.


Phyllis is survived by her husband, Dale; 2 daughters: Connie Lindsey and Tamara (Darrell) Brookshire of Eldorado; 1 son: Michael Bowers, New Paris; 6 grandchildren: Jared (Angela) Remley, Mark & Matthew Lindsey, Steven & Michelle Bowers, Alicia Dentino; 2 great-grandchildren: Logan & Jasmine Bowers; 3 step-grandchildren: Danielle, Tosha, & Tara Brookshire; 1 sister: Lois Elson, Greenville; half-sisters & brothers; nieces, nephews & cousins.

The Funeral Service for Phyllis J. Bowers will be Friday, February 13, 2009 at 10:00AM at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, OH, with Pastor Terry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, OH. Friends may call Thursday, February 12th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
