Moyne Leroy Thomas

MOYNE LEROY THOMAS, age 84, of New Paris, Ohio, died Sunday, July 17, 2011. Born on August 1, 1926, son of the late James & Hazel (Crawford) Thomas. Retired in 1988 from PJ Excavating in Richmond after 20 years as a heavy equipment operator. Member of the American Legion, Post 360 in New Paris. Leroy proudly served as a Sergeant in the US Army during World War II serving as a squad leader during the liberation of the Philippines.

Preceded by son, James Leroy "Jimmie" Thomas in 1972; sisters, Lena Shaffer and Dorothy McDaniel.

Survived by wife of 65 years, Eva M. (Farris) Thomas of New Paris; son, Tom J. Thomas of New Paris; brother, Paul J. (Martha) Thomas of Richmond; grandson, Paul L. (Corissa) Thomas of New Paris; great grandson, Landon T. Thomas of New Paris.

Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Charlie Rinehart officiating and with full military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard.
