Mrs. Mary I. Deaton, 53, of 711 Lincoln St., Eaton, died Sunday evening at Kettering Medical Center, Kettering. She had been in failing health for a year. She was a Montgomery county native and owner and operator of the Children’s Corner Day Care Center, Eaton. Mrs. Deaton was a member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren where she served as primary Sunday school teacher, director of the children’s choir, member of the music committee, member of the choir and board member of the Christian education committee. She was also a member of the Eaton Lyric Club.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; her mother, Gertrude Riley of East Flat Rock, N.C., one son, Stephen Deaton of Eaton; three daughters, Linda Hapner of Long Pine, Neb., Donna Elliott of Eaton and Sarah Deaton, at home. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Schooley of Santa Ana, Calif., and Catherine Rathburn of Melbourne, Fla.; three brothers, Ted Riley of Melbourne, Fla., Robert Riley of Eaton and William Riley of East Flat Rock, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Deaton will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Eaton Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Ellis Guthrie and the Rev. Martin Peacock officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Barnes Funeral Home-Eaton Chapel.
