Mary E. Heck

Mary E. Heck, 103, of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Sunday, May 8, 2022 at her home in Lewisburg. Born on October 14, 1918 in Monroe Township, Preble County, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Omar T. & Edith L. (Hayes) Smith.

Mary retired in 1980 as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Grandview Hospital in Dayton. She was a 1936 graduate of Lewisburg Union High School, Dayton School of Practical Nursing, member of the DAR Commodore Preble Chapter, Colonial Dames of the 17th century, Simon Kenton Chapter of the U.S.A. Daughter’s of 1812, Lewisburg & Preble County Historical Societies, VFW Aux #975 in Lewisburg and was a member of the Lewisburg First United Church of Christ.

Preceded in death by her Husband: John M. Heck in 1989; Children: Phyllis Root in 2015, Phillip Heck in 2016 and John Heck in 1995; Siblings: Herbert Smith in 1979, Loran Smith in 1999 and Eunice Miller in 2005.

Survived by her Daughter: Susan Heck; 17 Grandchildren, 47 Great Grandchildren, 40 Great Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Great Grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
