Margaret Geraldine Lincicome

Margaret Geraldine Crouse Lincicome died peacefully on December 6, 2022 at home in Champaign, Illinois with her daughter Susan Feuille and granddaughter Julie King at her side. She was one month short of her 96th birthday.

“Peggie” was born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1927 to her parents, Paul and Sophia Pearl Nixon Crouse of North Carolina. She was the seventh of 13 children. Margaret lived in Eaton, Ohio from 1946 to 2021 and spent her last eighteen months with her daughter in Champaign.

Margaret had three husbands predecease her: Robert Lloyd Reitz in 1963, Glenn P. Harris in 1982 and Calvin L. Lincicome in 2005. She was the mother of three daughters and two stepdaughters, grandmother to 6 grandchildren and two step grandchildren and great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. Stepdaughter Jane A. Harris preceded her in death in 1970. Son-in-law Peter Feuille also predeceased her in 2016. Also preceding her in death were 11 of her 12 siblings, with youngest sister Jessica Crouse Turvey as her only surviving sibling.

Before travelling widely in retirement with her third husband, Calvin Lincicome, young Peggie worked as an au pair, then as a clerk at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base during WWII, as a waitress, telephone operator, a bookkeeper and later as a monument business owner. She enjoyed singing in a church choir and acting as a Brownie leader, and she hosted many children’s parties for her family. Margaret was known for her generosity to charities and families in need, for her work as a long-time election judge, and as an avid gardener and inventor of several household improvements that amazed her daughters. A former good bridge player, Margaret also excelled at golf, winning the Eaton Country Club women’s championship and playing golf well into her 70s. She followed professional golf tournaments while doing her exquisite needlepoint right up until her death.

Surviving her are three daughters, Karen Susan Reitz Feuille (Peter), Peggy Lee Reitz Willett (Randy), and Judith Anne Reitz Roberts (Tim); Stepdaughter Jo Ann Harris Wainscott (Alan); granddaughters April Leigh Kelley (Kevin Cushing), Julie Christine King; grandsons Gregg Seals (Leah), Robert Owens (Lizz), Joe Owens (Wendy), and Taylor Feuille; great grandchildren Rylie Seals, Drew Seals and Ben Seals; Henry and Eleanor Owens; and Serenity Owens; step granddaughter Jane Wainscott Buroker (Brady); step great-grandchildren Christopher Buroker, Katie Buroker, and Allison Buroker; step grandson Eric Wainscott (Lara); and step great-grandson Nate Wainscott.

A private committal will be held at the convenience of the family in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton in late April.
