JULIA G. SHILTS, 88, of New Paris, Ohio, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at her residence. Born on April 9, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Paul & Hazel L.(Randall) Duemer. She was a 1939 graduate of Webster High School in Webster, Indiana and was retired from Belden in Richmond, Indiana where she had worked in the Purchasing Department for 17 years. Prior to Belden she worked for the North American Insurance Company in Richmond. She was an active member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority in New Paris for 57 years and was a member of the Hodgin Road Christian Church in Richmond. "Grams," as she was affectionately known by her family, loved her ceramics, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling with her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Wally Shilts in 2003 and her sister, Gladys L. Abner.

Grams is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Dick & Carol Shilts of Kalamazoo, Michigan; daughters & son-in-law, Judy & Frank Henn of New Paris and Becky Ashenfelter of Schoolcraft, Michigan; sister, Mary J. Winfree of Wadesboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Cherie Middleton, Teri Skinner, Mindi Freng, Bridget Barnes, Ricky Shilts, Corey, Adam, Jesse and Grace Ashenfelter, Kelly Dunn and Kristy Kyle; great grandchildren, Adam, Nick & Jack Middleton, Kelsey, Colby & Carter Skinner, Audri & Kira Freng, Briana & Jasmine Barnes, Aubrie Ashenfelter, Colton Ashenfelter, Kyle & Kevan Dunn and Kimberly, Ben and Mike Shelley. Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2008 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Aaron Levering officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris. Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
