John James "Johnny" Stapleton

John James “Johnny” Stapleton, age 60, of Eaton, Ohio died suddenly Friday, January 21, 2022, in Schaumburg, IL. Born on April 29, 1961, in New Paris, Ohio he was the son of Billy McNeil & Gail (Guthrie) Stapleton. He attended National Trail High School and was a Truck Driver for Barnets Mill in Camden, Ohio. Johnny was a husband, son, father, brother, uncle, papaw, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend who loved spending time with his family. He loved old cars and Harleys and spent many years as a mechanic and truck Driver. He was a familiar face and known best for his laugh, sense of humor and being a great guy to be around. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Preceded in death by father: Billy McNeil Stapleton, grandfather: Pappaw Henry Stapleton and Grandpa Ray Guthrie, brother: Billy Howard Stapleton, grandmothers: Juanita Grace Guthrie and Nola Hicks, Great Grandmother: Thelma “Grannie” Camper, stepson: J.R. Smith.

Survived by his wife: Leeann L. (Marker) Stapleton; children: John Henry & Brittany Johnson, Travis Johnson, Krystle Johnson, J.R. Smith, Josh & Dacota Smith and Kayla Smith & Jeff Gibson. Grandchildren: Haidyn, Everliegh, Aleigha, Carly, Brayden, Kylie, Henry, Mercy, Noah, Aurora and Paisley. mother: Gail Ann & John Friedel, sisters & brothers-in-law: LaWanna & Lynn Loxley, Angelia York and Judy & David French, mothers & fathers in law: Allen & Sherrie Adkins and Tom & Carla Marker. Numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews and great great nephew.

Family will receive friends Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., New Paris, Ohio. The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Rodney Dunn officiating. A meal will be held at the New Paris American Legion Post after the service.
