Joan P. Unger

JOAN P. UNGER, age 82 of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Heartland of Eaton. Born on November 18, 1921 in Arcanum, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William & Lulu (Riker) Roberson. She was a 1939 graduate of Arcanum High School and was the bookkeeper at Unger's Garage in Lewisburg and had worked for Aker's Furniture Store in New Paris. She served as the Mayor of the Village of Lewisburg from 1976 to 1979 and 1984 to 1987 and also served on Village Council 1970 - 1973 and 1982 - 1983. Member of the Preble County Historical Society, National Antique Automobile Club (Ohio Region), J.I. Case Collectors Association, Charter Member of J.I. Case Heritage Foundation and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewisburg. Preceded in death by Husband: Thomas D. Unger in 1993; Grandsons: Thomas M. Unger in 1979 and Heath O’Dell in 1995.

Survived by Sons & Daughters-in-law: Leland "Cork" & Tara Unger, Eaton, Ohio, Trent & Diane Unger, Lewisburg, Ohio; Daughter & Son-in-law: Nanette & Tom Fogt, Sevierville, Tennessee; Brother: Joe Roberson, Greenville, Ohio. 3 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, 5 Step-Grandchildren and 3 Step Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. - Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, Ohio with Rev. Raymond Rothwell officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 15, 2004 from 5 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
