James W. Hackney

James W. "Jim" Hackney, age 86, of New Paris, OH, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 20, 2018.   Born on October 2, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Frank Leon & Iva Mae (Gamble) Hackney.    

Jim proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War.  He retired in 1993 after 38 years as a Railroad Engineer for Conrail Railroad, first hired by the Pennsylvania Railroad.  Member of the American Legion, Post 360.  

Survived by his Wife of 59 years: Gladys M. (Sandusky) Hackney; Daughters: Lois Hackney-Zurwell; Janice Hackney-Case; Son: Jim (Debra) Hackney; Sister: Lee Hackney; Grandchildren: Lisa (Curtis Krefft) Zurwell, Jeremy (Brittany Daugherty) Zurwell and Jim (Malia) Hackney; Great Grandchildren: Elijah, Caleb, Logan, Alayna, Caiden, Parker, Carolynn and Cierra.  

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 27, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 W. Main Street, New Paris, OH with Pastor George Renner officiating.  Interment will be held at Springlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home in New Paris.  Condolences may be sent via www.barnesfuneralhome.com
