James J. Jordan

JAMES J. "JIMMIE" JORDAN, 88, of Eaton, OH and formerly of New Paris, OH, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Born on June 3, 1923 in New Paris, OH, he was the son of the late Paul L. and Grace R. (McWhinney) Jordan.

Jimmie was a 1941 graduate of Jackson Township High School, attended The Ohio State University, was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He began his career as a partner with Paul L. Jordan & Sons Potato Farm in New Paris and proudly continued farming throughout his life. He served on the Farm Services Agency's Preble County Committee, Producers Live Stock State of Ohio Board of Directors and was a member of the American Legion in New Paris and Eaton.

He is preceded in death by wife of 62 years: Helen (Ferriell) Jordan on July 18, 2009; daughter: Sue Sims in 1979; brothers: Phillip G. Jordan in 1994 and Harold E. Jordan in 2008; sons-in-law: Bob "C" Crelin in 1998 and W. Sidney Sims in 1996.

Survived by Daughters: Janet (Rebecca Kisling) Crelin, Eaton, OH, Nancy (Bob) Keller, Oxford, OH; Grandchildren: Tracey (Mike) Ross, New Paris, OH, Mark (Michelle) Sims, Springboro, OH, Bobby (Amber) Keller, Eaton, OH, Jessica (Jeremy) Peck, Middletown, OH. Great Grandchildren: Derek & Morgan Ross, Harper & Gannon Sims, Hannah & Jakob Keller and Jordan & Jonathan Peck. Several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the Eaton Church of the Visitation, 407 East Main Street, Eaton, OH with Rev. J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, OH with military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton with Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m.
