J. Paul Derringer

J. PAUL DERRINGER, Sr., 83 of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Dayton. Born on January 16, 1926 in Montgomery County, Ohio, he was the son of the late George & Alice (Miller) Derringer. Paul retired in 1990 from the U.S. Postal Service in Lewisburg after 31 years of service including 20 years as Postmaster, a 1944 Trotwood Madison High School graduate, a former school bus driver for 14 years for the Trotwood Madison and Lewisburg Schools, farmer and dairyman and former Harrison Twp. Trustee having served for 16 years, U.S. Army veteran of WW II and member of the Lewisburg First United Church of Christ. Preceded in death by Brothers: Daniel Derringer and Lawson Derringer.

Paul is survived by his Wife of 56 years: Marie (Jenkins) Derringer; Daughter & Son-in-law: Donna & James Elson, Greenville, OH; Sons & Daughters-in-law: Paul & Pam (Crawford) Derringer, James & Lisa Derringer, all of Lewisburg, William "Bill" Derringer, Brookville, OH. Brother: Joseph (Mary Ruth) Derringer, Trotwood, OH; Sister: Betty Jean (Ed) Cook, Trotwood, OH; Grandchildren: Nicholas (Cristy) Elson, Jenny (Steve) Bostater, Jonathan Elson, Patrick, Michael (Fiance' Alison), Cathy, Kelsey and Billy Derringer. Great Grandchildren: Sarah, Elizabeth, Andrew and Ethan Elson. Nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral service will be held at - 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, Ohio with Nephew Pastor Dan Kincer officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg with full military graveside service by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
