Howard C. Hamm, Sr.

HOWARD C. HAMM, SR., age 63, of New Paris, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Born on March 19, 1946 in Morehead, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Oscar Levi & Virginia Darcus (McKenzie) Hamm. Howard was a life long mechanic, well known in the area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved tinkering with old tractors, gardening and spending time outdoors.

Preceded in death by his brothers, Arnold and Charles Hamm; sisters, Geneva Hamm and Dorothy Vanlandingham; granddaughter, Kayla Thacker.

Survived by his wife of 43 years, Dawn Hamm of New Paris, Ohio; sons, Howard and wife Susan of Eldorado, Ohio, Dennis and wife Jennifer of New Paris, Ohio; daughters, Brenda Marlow of Centerville, Indiana, Melinda Hamm of New Paris, Ohio and Melody Thacker of Richmond, Indiana; special sons-in-law, Jason Thacker and Matt Marlow; grandchildren, Joshua, J. J., Cody, Colten, Justen, Derek, Ryan, Emily, Dylan, Katie and Kylie; great granddaughter, Phoebe "Sugar Pie"; brothers, David (Jennifer) and Oscar (Shelia) Hamm; sisters, Eula (Kendall), Betty (Phil), Beula and Linda (Billy); special "brother", Brad Fike of Mansfield, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Barnes Funeral home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Doug Townsend officiating. Internment will be held at Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the funeral home.
