Henry Kelley Lawson

Henry Kelley (Possum) Lawson, age 58, born October 13, 1962, of Union City, Indiana, has 'Gone Fishin' with the Lord in heaven, and although this trip was unexpected, we can set our hearts at ease knowing it'll be the best fishing trip yet, in the river of heavens eternity.

Kelley is preceded in death by his beloved parents Henry Paul (Hoppie) Lawson and Marjorie Shell Lawson.

Throughout his life, he lived in many places throughout Indiana and Ohio, but his heart belonged to Kentucky, to nature, the outdoors, where he enjoyed four wheeling, watching his plants grow, and, of course, any kind of fishing you could do.

He is survived by his 3 loving sons, Henry Paul Lawson of Port Charlotte, Florida; Christopher (Allysha) Caleb Lawson of West Manchester, Ohio, and Joshuwa Coty Lawson of Eaton, Ohio, & 1 grand-daughter, Izabella Nicole Lawson. His brothers, Charles (Lucy) Lawson, William (Sue) Lawson, and James Lawson, all of Union City, Indiana, and sister Denise Lawson of Greenville, Ohio, A close cousin, Jake (Becky) Shell of Ohio, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who all adored him so much, Also, so many long-time friends and fishing buddies; Jimbo (Becky) Warmen & Jamie Grubb, to name a few.

In the years past, Kelley did many wonderful things, such as serving in the U.S. Navy for a short time when he turned 18 years old.
He then went on to join the Union in Kentucky, where he was a plaster man for many years.

He was also an active member of the Gettysburg rod & gun club where he even served as president at one time around the same time he broke 98 & 99 out of 100 targets at the Grand American & The Ohio State Trap Shoot. Possum was a man of many talents while always helping anyone he could. He loved and cherished his family and friends.

He was always a teacher of all sorts, sharing his knowledge of hunting, knife throwing, finding and collecting arrowheads and other old relics such as fishing secrets and how to shoot a bullseye at any target with a gun or regular ol' darts on a dart board, but his true hobbies were his love for collecting old coins and, more importantly, his pocket knives.

You'd most likely find him with a rebel flag nearby and dressed in camouflage, cuz he was just an ol' country boy at heart. We will all surely miss his southern hospitality and warmness he carried with him wherever he went; that and something cold to drink if you were thirsty.

Funeral arrangements will be held at the Barnes funeral home in Lewisburg, Ohio, following a burial ceremony on his birthday, October 13th, 2021, at noon, and the following Saturday, there will be a celebration of life at his cousin April's home at 2:00 pm.

The family asks that if you plan to attend, you bring a covered dish and RSVP with his son's wife, Allysha, and directions will be given if you need them. Her Email is OhanaTraditions22@gmail.com

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made towards Kelley's headstone to Barnes Funeral Home on their website or at the celebration of life where there will also be memorial car decals for a small fee made especially for Possum.
