Helen L. Montgomery

HELEN L. MONTGOMERY, 93 of Eaton, OH, died Friday, March 16, 2012 at Spring Hills Singing Woods in Dayton, OH where she had lived for the past two years. Born on January 9, 1919 in Honaker , VA she was the daughter of the late Henry & Lena Miller of Liberty, Indiana. Helen lived most of her life in Eaton. She was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH and received a degree in education. She taught one year at Fairhaven, 2 years at Jackson and 39 years at Eaton Community Schools retiring in 1985. After retirement she was a substitute teacher at Eaton for another 5 plus years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Eaton for over 60 years and enjoyed watching sports and working in her yard.

Preceded in death by her husband: Willard C. Montgomery in 1969: brother: Calvin Miller; sisters: Kathleen Smith, Vivian Stoner and Grace Free.

She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law: Martin & Karen L. (Clark) Montgomery of Richmond, IN and Douglas M. & Karen L. (Meadors) Montgomery of Eaton, OH; 6 grandchildren: Gene Montgomery, Stacy Ferguson, Kelly Marshall, Douglas Mason Montgomery II, Althea J. Montgomery and Stephanie Grabill; 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sisters: Jane Penecost of Indianapolis, IN and Hazel Abernathy of Florida.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Saturday March 24, 2012 at Barnes Funeral Homes, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, OH. With Rev. Roger Stine officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton, OH. Family will receive friends on Saturday March 24, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
