Harry S. Hobbs

HARRY S. HOBBS , 76 of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Born August 8, 1932 in Dayton, son of the late Robert and Bernice (Webb) Hobbs. He was retired from Dayton Gear & Tool after 39 years of service as a machinist. He was a Korean War Veteran in the United States Marine Corp; lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post # 3288 in Brookville, Ohio; member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and member of the Verona United Methodist Church in Verona, Ohio. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Hobbs Scott in 1993 and daughter-in-law, Simone M. Hobbs in 2006.

Survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley L.(Guerrant) Hobbs; son, Steve Hobbs of Lewisburg; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jerry Garber of Lewisburg; sister, Mary Lee Swartzel of Huber Heights, Ohio; grandchildren, Chip, Chad and Craig Talley; Steven and Justin Harker and Shelly and Sophie Hobbs; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Barnes Funeral Home, 411 North Commerce Street, Lewisburg, Ohio with Rev. Rodney Brower officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard will be held in Twin Valley Cemetery in Lanier Township, Preble County, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home with V.F.W. services at 1:45 pm.
