H. Winifred Mtcastle

H. Winifred MtCastle, age 95 of Lewisburg, OH, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at her residence. Born on September 29, 1915 in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH, she was the daughter of the late C. Fred & Maude (Schafer) Sortman. She was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church, Preble County Farm Bureau, and the Harrison Township Homemakers.

Proceeded in death by her husband: Lowell R. MtCastle in 1983; daughters: Barbara M. Phelps in 2003, Norma Jean Wiest in 1970 and June MtCastle in 1950. Brothers: Howard, Donald, Norman and Charles Sortman; Sisters: Marjorie Curp, Virginia Dumas and and Patty Sortman.

Survived by three sons & daughters-in-law: Lowell Lee & Marsha MtCastle of West Manchester, OH; James C. & Malissa J. MtCastle and Carl R. & Shirley J. MtCastle both of Lewisburg, OH; Daughters & Sons-In-Law: Betty S. & Norman S. Barnes of Ashland, KY, Donna M. & Gerald A. Sturm of Lewisburg, OH; Marjorie W. & Robert F. Salmonsen of Warrington, PA and Nita & Donald Nydam of Kunkletown, PA; Sister: Dorothy Tharpe of Kettering, OH; 29 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other family members.

Memorial service will be held 5:00 PM Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church – 3147 U.S. Route 40 East – Lewisburg, OH with Rev. Jeff Ginter and Rev. David Justis officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday January 16, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the church. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg, OH.
