Grover Oney

Grover Oney, age 82, of Lewisburg, OH, died Monday, October 11, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, OH. Born on December 22, 1921 in Holliday, KY, he was the son of the late Sammy & Gussie (Sayler) Oney. He was a 30 year retired U.S. Army Veteran serving during W.W. II, Korea War and Vietnam War. In 1986 he retired after 20 years service at Harrison Radiator in Dayton. He is preceded in death by brothers: Jack Oney in 1993, Park Oney in 1965, Burl Oney in 1984. Sister: Ruby Lykins in 1994. His 1st wife Amalia “Lea” Oney died in 1982. Member of First United Church of Christ and V.F.W. Post both of Lewisburg, OH

Survived by wife of 20 years: Elizabeth (Griffiths) Prater Oney. Son: Jim Oney of Middletown, OH. Step-Son & wife: Ric & Felicia Prater of Lewisburg, OH. Brother: Paul Oney of Middletown, OH. Sisters: Roxy Allen and Helen Higgins both of Caney, KY. Grandchildren: Jason Oney of CA, Brandon Oney and Aaron Oney both of Middletown, OH. Step-grandchildren: Gretchen & Josh Meyers, George & Kyra Prater and Travis Prater all of Lewisburg, OH. Step great-granddaughter: Madeline Prater.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2004 at Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, OH with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday, October 15, 2004 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Butler County Memorial Park - Hamilton, OH with full military honors.
