Grace E. Rust

GRACE E. (MILLER) RUST, 99, of Eaton, Ohio, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at her residence. Grace was born the daughter and only child of Henry and Eliza (Swope) Miller on December 21, 1908 in Jefferson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. She was a graduate of Miamisburg High School and Wittenburg University and had attended the Dayton Art Institute. Grace retired in 1971 after 39 happy years from the Dayton Public Schools where she taught at Weaver and Fairport. She was a life long member of the First Lutheran Church in Dayton where she had been active in the Altar Guild and the Fellowship class, she was a past council member and a 40 year member of the choir. Member of Phi Beta Psi sorority, the American Association of University Women, the Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors, past president of the Preble County Art Association, past president of the Alpha Garden Club, volunteer with the Literacy program, member of the Preble County Retired Teachers Association, the Ohio Education Association, the Eaton-Rodental, Germany sister cities organization, the Learning Ladies of Senior Sinclair College Classes, the Golden Sound of Music group, past president of the Eaton Homemakers Club and was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton where she was a member of the Ruth Circle. Grace had a keen interest for beauty in nature, sewing, painting, gardening, music, geography, history, world affairs and empathy for animals who could not speak for themselves . She was a devoted daughter, wife, teacher and friend.

In addition to her parents Grace is preceded in death by her husband, William G. Rust in 1974.

Grace is survived by her cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Warren Reichert and Rev. Richard Gilbertson officiating. Entombment will be held in Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
