Gay Aker

Gay Aker, age 77, of New Paris, Ohio went to be with Lord, Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Born on July 28, 1931 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William Henry & Artie Marie (Cope) Rowland. She graduated in 1949 from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Ohio. Gay was co-owner & operator of Aker's Restaurant in Lewisburg, Ohio and Aker's Furniture & Appliances in New Paris, Ohio. Former member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Phi Chapter of Lewisburg, Ohio. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church of New Paris, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband William L. "Bill" Aker in 2006.

She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Fred & Kim Aker of New Paris, Ohio and John & Beth Aker of Huber Heights, Ohio; grandchildren: Ashley Aker and Sarah Aker both of Huber Heights, Ohio; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Pam Weaver officiating. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009 and from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the funeral home.
