FRED D. HICKS, 88, of New Madison, OH died Monday, September 5, 2005 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. Born on December 13, 1916 in Weaver’s Station,(Darke County) Ohio he was the son of the late John Levi & Maria (Burkett) Hicks. He retired in 1973 from the Fram Corporation in Greenville, Ohio where he was a forklift operator. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran where he served in active combat and was a life long member of the body of Christ. He loved nature and animals. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Lela Kathleen(Sleppy) Hicks in 1990; Sisters: Gertrude Emmons, Zelma Hicks and Mary Studebaker; Brothers: Omar, Hershel(Mac), Chalmer and two infant brothers.

He is survived by Daughter and son-in-law: Linda Kay and John Baker of New Madison, Ohio; Grandson and spouse: Brock and Jeni Baker and Granddaughter: Alisha Baker and Special loving caregiver: Christine Hoskins. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m.(Ohio time), Friday, September 9, 2005 at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, OH with Pastor Shawn Hicks officiating. Interment will held in Oak Grove Cemetery- Ft. Jefferson, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.(Ohio time) at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Ohio- 1373 Grandview Avenue- Suite 200- Columbus, Ohio 43212-2804.
