FRANKLIN JAMES “JIM” SHIVERDECKER age 70, of Lewisburg, Ohio died Friday, December 13, 2002 at Harborside Health Care Center in New Lebanon, Ohio. Born on May 24, 1932 in Lewisburg, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles H. & Rosa Bell (Fox) Shiverdecker. Jim had been the Village of Lewisburg Clerk -Treasurer and had served on Village Council for several years, a 1950 graduate of West Alexandria High School, a Korean Conflict veteran, Owner/Operator of Iris & Jim’s Hardware store in Lewisburg (1964-1982), Honorary member of the Twin Valley North FFA, a licensed realtor in Lewisburg for over 40 years. Member of the First United Church of Christ - Lewisburg, Ohio. He joined the Lewisburg Lions Club in September 1978, 1978-1979 Bulletin Editor, 1979-1980 Lewisburg Club President, 1980-1983 Club Secretary, 1981-1983 Zone 1 Chairman 13-H, 1983-1984 13 - H Junior Deputy District Governor, 1984-1985 13-H Senior Deputy District Governor, 1985-1986 13-H District Governor, 1986-1987 13-H Past District Governor. In June of 1988 he transferred his membership to the West Alexandria Lions Club and served as Secretary for 10 years. Member of Libanus Lodge #80 Free and Accepted Masons in Lewisburg where he had served as Past Master and Secretary, member of Antioch Temple - Dayton, Ohio, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio - Palmyra Chapter #235 - Brookville, Ohio, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Consistory Valley of Dayton, Ohio, American Legion Post #213 - Lewisburg, Ohio. Preceded in death by Sisters: Rhoda P. Shiverdecker, Edith W. Cooper and Martha M. Evans. Brothers: Owen R., Orval R., Lawrence & Charles H. Shiverdecker, Grandson: James Pansing.<br><br>Survived by Wife of 40 years: Iris Mae (Hartrum) Shiverdecker, Daughters & Son-in-law: Kathryn Ann & Donald Guntle, Eaton, Ohio, Edith Mae Pansing, Lewisburg, Ohio; Son & Daughter-in-law: Kenneth A. & Charlotte DeLong, West Alexandria, Ohio, Brother: Russell L. Shiverdecker, West Alexandria, Ohio; 6 Grandchildren: Brenda (Dean) Miller, David (Vickie) Guntle, Donna (Warren) Kuck, Michael (Tracey) DeLong, Beth Ann (Jeff) Rose and Jason (Jennifer) DeLong. 10 Great Grandchildren: Mellisa Guntle, Emily Burge, Amber Guntle, Tim & Nathan Kuck, Elizabeth Miller, Hagan Messer, Sarah & Emily Rose & Ryan DeLong. Nieces & Nephews.<br><br>Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2002 - 3:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home - 411 N. Commerce St. - Lewisburg, Ohio with Rev. David O. Justis and Michael D. Pratt officiating. Interment will be held in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, Ohio with full military services by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 15, 2002 from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 4:30 P.M. and Lions Club Services at 5:00 P.M.
