Elijah "Lige" Ison

Elijah "Lige" Ison, 77, of Lewisburg, OH, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 in Richmond, IN. Born on August 14, 1936 in Whitesburg, KY, he was the son of the late Gideon and Gracie (Combs) Ison. Lige was a U.S. Army veteran and retired in 1984 after 28 years with Continental Foods where he served as plant manager. Throughout his 35 year membership at First Missionary Baptist Church of Lewisburg, he was a well-respected Deacon since 1977, Sunday School Superintendent, member of the church bowling team and loved visitation. He loved spending time with his family, studying his Bible, taking walks with his wife, telling his children and grandchildren his own fables of Dynamite Red while "putting the quieetus on them," and playing embarrassing jokes on his kids.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Brothers: Gail, Rob, John D., Forest and Claude Ison.

Survived by his Wife of 52 years: Jossie (Jent) Ison; Children: Stephanie (Steve) Conner, Allen (Lisa) Ison, Anthony (Sondra) Ison, Marvin Ison, Jeff Ison, Elizabeth Flory, Robert Ison, Robin (Brad) Nuse, Dale Ison and Natalie (Rob) Cureton; Brothers: Dennis, Danis, Clyde, Gideon, Ralph, Everett and Ivol Ison; Sisters: Mabel Ison, Alice Faye Keith, Louise Adams and Viola Adams; twenty nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 608 North Commerce Street, Lewisburg, OH with Rev. George Pennington officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg with full military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 5 – 8 P.M. at the church and on Tuesday from 12 – 1:00 P.M. at the church.
