Earl S. Schlotterbeck, 96 of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. He was born on July 20, 1923 in New Paris, Ohio, son of the late Seth S. and Alice Edith (Heck) Schlotterbeck.  Earl was one of the first Eagle Scouts in Preble County and was a 1941 graduate of Lewisburg-Union High School. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita, in 2009; an infant son Todd Alan in 1958 and his granddaughter, Desiree Seery McCarley in 2012. Juanita and Earl shared a special, loving marriage of 63 years following a courtship that began in the 8th grade. Their relationship weathered high school, foreign service for Earl in the U.S. Navy during WWII and college in the Navy V-12 program at Purdue University where Earl received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Juanita and Earl were married while he was still in uniform and they lived in West Lafayette, IN until his graduation. Following graduation, he became a Project Engineer at the Frigidaire Division of General Motors where he remained for 42 years. Through his work General Motors holds several patents in his name. Upon his retirement, Earl became a member of the TOM Club, a retirement organization for the Frigidaire and Harrison Division Engineers. In 1950 Earl and Juanita moved into their home that was built by Earl and his father Seth. It was in this home that they raised their family. Earl was a strong believer in giving back to his community and did so by serving many years on the Lewisburg Village Council, was the past president and member of the Lewisburg-Union School board and member and past president of the Twin Valley District School board. He was a member of the former Lewisburg American Legion.      

Earl is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Teri and Howard Stedman of Terrell, TX and Karen and Jeff Nicholas of Huber Heights, OH and son and son-in-law Rawjer Schlotterbeck and Ted Bradshaw of Longmont, CO; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brother, Robert Schlotterbeck of Brookville, OH; twin sisters, Ruth Fisher of  Sun City, Utah and Dorothy Motsinger of Lebanon, OH; numerous nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, OH with a Celebration of Life following at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Dave O. Justis will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
