COLONEL DONALD EDWARD REEVES, USAF, (Retired) age 83 of Eaton, Ohio, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 in Richmond, Indiana. Born on October 8, 1926 in Barberton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Thomas W. & Edna (Carnel) Reeves. Donald graduated in 1944 from Barberton High School in Barberton, Ohio and was a 1951 graduate of the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio with a BA in Economics and a 1964 graduate of The George Washington University in Washington D.C. with a Masters in Business Administration. He was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church in Eaton, Ohio, and member of the Air Force Association and the Air Force Security Association.

During Donald's military career, he proudly served as a corporal in the United States Army during World War II. He received his commission into the United States Air Force in 1951 and served with honor in the Security and Law Enforcement career field, retiring after 30 years in 1981. His military career took him to many overseas tours including the Philippine Islands, Germany, Turkey, Vietnam and Japan. He was also assigned to many bases within the United States.

Donald's awards and decorations during his 32 years while serving in the military include: the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, US Army and USAF Commendation Medals, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Device and other awards and service medals.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Robert Reeves, Gerald Marvin Reeves and Thomas Lewis Reeves; sister, Eloise Ruth (Reeves) Coher.

Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary (Skocich) Reeves of Eaton, Ohio; children & spouses, Ann E. & James Keene of Monrovia, Maryland, Major David E. Reeves, USMC (Retired) & Captain Nancy L. Reeves, USN, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Major General Mary Kay Hertog, USAF & Chief Master Sergeant, Herman Hertog III, USAF (Retired) of Keesler AFB, Mississippi, Lieutenant Colonel Timothy J. Reeves, USMC (Retired) of Virginia Beach Virginia, Colonel Nancy P. Reeves-Flores, USAF & Christopher Flores of Ramstein AB, Germany, Major Joseph T. Reeves, USAF (Retired) & Susan Reeves of Dallas, Georgia; grandchildren, Christian, Kyle, Jessie and Sarah Reeves; step grandchildren, Melinda Wright and Jessica Pence; great granddaughter, Anna Claire Wright; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Visitation Catholic Church in Eaton, Ohio with Father Caserta officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Wright-Patterson AFB Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 11, 2009 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio.
